Baby foodIn 2018, the quota for the import of raw materials for the production of baby food from the sanctions countries may increase by 1.5 times to 1,156.6 tons from 750 tons in 2016. The corresponding draft order of the Ministry of Agriculture was published on the federal portal of draft normative legal acts.

Recall that frozen meat and vegetables intended for the production of baby food, have been excluded from the list of prohibited for import products last summer. From the prohibition were removed veal, beef, chicken and turkey, potatoes, peas, beans, sweet corn, zucchini, carrots, pumpkin, onions, broccoli, cauliflower and dried herbs.

The Ministry of Agriculture came to the conclusion that the quota for the import of sanctions raw materials needs to be adjusted after the analysis of needs in agricultural raw materials for the production of baby food, says the explanatory note to the draft order.

The Ministry of Agriculture stressed that when it involves children, the safety of food comes to the forefront. Due to the fact that in Russia and the countries of the Customs Union there is no organic raw material for the production of baby food, the country is forced to import it from abroad, including the EU countries.
