MeatIn the first half of 2017 supplies of a number of Russian products in the EAEC countries increased by tens of percent. Thus, according to the data of the Eurasian Economic Commission, export of meat in value terms increased by almost 30 percent compared to January-June last year and reached $ 40.7 million, fish – more than 16 percent – $ 34.8 million. The largest increase occurred on the supply of vegetable production – the volume of their exports increased by almost 52 percent and amounted to 7.6 million dollars.

In the country’s agrarian department they consider the reason for the growth of export supplies is the saturation of the domestic market with domestic fish, vegetables and meat. In the Russian Food Union (“Rusprodsoyuz”) they confirm this in figures: the production of cattle meat in January-June this year exceeded last year’s level by 7 percent and amounted to 1.3 million tons, poultry meat and offal was produced in the volume of 2.7 million tons, which is 4, 3 percent more than in the first half of 2016. As for the production of fish products, in the five months of this year it increased by 7.4 percent and reached 2.2 million tons. Vegetable production is also actively developing: the industry adds about 30 percent per year.

Russian agricultural products are in good demand in the market of the EAEU, which makes exports to the union countries beneficial to Russia, according to the National Trade Association. Growth in vegetable exports is associated not only with the increase in their production, but also with the attractiveness of prices for domestic products, they say in the National Union of Fruit and Vegetable Producers. Thus, according to the union, over the past year, the EAEU countries activated the purchase of vegetables of so-called «borsch set» – potatoes, cabbage, onions, beets and carrots – as well as beans.
